Watchberry Quick Start Guide

This quick start guide is targeted at advanced users as the following instructions contain limited explanations. A separate illustrated guide (see Watchberry First Tasks) is provided for users requiring detailed step-by-step instructions.

Overview

Watchberry is the software application we install on your Blackberry™ mobile phone. We support any Blackberry with an integral GPS. This quick start guide describes the following tasks in brief:

Installing Watchberry

  1. Download and install Watchberry. Two installation options are available:
  2. Set the Connections permission to Allow for Watchberry from the Application Manager

Configuring Watchberry

  1. You will have received your New Account sign-up email. Note down your Account Id name (begins with t)
  2. Start Watchberry from the icon (note icon might be under your Downloads folder)
  3. From the Options screen, enter your Account Id
  4. From the Internet screen, select either BIS or BES depending on your service plan (see further notes below)
    • If BIS then be aware that you may need to enter APN details at a later stage (this is covered in the troubleshooting guide
    • If BES then be aware that you are likely to have to open a single outgoing firewall port (one-way) within your corporation. See this BES Firewall Configuration page for more details


Running Watchberry For The First Time

  1. After configuring Watchberry (see above) we recommend you shutdown Watchberry by selecting Exit
  2. To get Watchberry running quickly we recommend you stand outside of a building for this first time.
  3. Start Watchberry from the icon (note icon might be under your Downloads folder)
  4. Wait while Watchberry aquires a GPS fix, which then sends this tracking report to our servers (see example screen shot).

Troubleshooting Installation Issues

  1. Your screen should now look like the illustration when everything is configured correctly. Check that you can see the Last Xmit and the GPS Fix messages displaying a recent time on the screen before continuing (see example screen shot).
